You've probably heard us say many, many times by now that kids need camp. But camp doesn’t just benefit kids. Camp benefits the parents, too. For many parents, dropping off a child at camp is an act of courage—releasing them into the care of others and trusting they’ll be safe, happy, and cared for. And yet, what parents gain is priceless. Here are four benefits of camp for parents:
1. Peace of Mind
Peace of mind knowing their child is in a safe, nurturing environment. Our summer staff go through extensive training on how to best care for your child while they are at camp.
2. Time to Rest and Reset
One of our favorite things we hear at check-in is parents who are heading out on vacation as soon as they get their kid dropped off! Sending your kid to camp knowing that they are safe and cared for is the perfect opportunity for you to take a much-needed break and get some rest and reset as a parent. Or, ya know, take a super fun, kid-free vacation!
3. Joy in Watching Growth
You are going to love seeing the growth in your child when she returns more confident, independent, and mature.
4. Partnership in Faith and Character Development
We want to be a trusted partner with parents. In many ways, camp comes alongside parents as a partner, much like the church does. It reinforces a family’s faith and values, provides mentors who model integrity and kindness, and gives children opportunities for safe adventure and meaningful challenge. Parents often see their children come home, not only with new stories to share, but also with new strengths and perspectives that enrich the whole family.
