Staff Training

May 19-30

Staff Training takes place two weeks before the start of summer camp. These weeks are a great time of getting to know the rest of the staff, learning about the various aspects of serving on summer staff, and getting camp ready for thousands of kids to arrive!

Summer Camp Dates

Summer Staff can work for either one or both sessions.

  • Full Summer: June 1 - August 2
  • Session 1: June 1 - July 5
  • Session 2: June 31 - July 30

Staff Outline

Here is what a typical day at camp looks like. Summer staff gets two hours off each day as assigned by the Summer Activity Leaders (except Friday), as well as approximately 24 hours off starting Saturday afternoon.

  • 7:30 Rise and Shine
  • 7:45 Table for Two (personal quiet time)
  • 8:00 Clean Cabins
  • 8:30 Breakfast
  • 9:10 1st hour Activity Class
  • 10:10 2nd hour Activity Class
  • 11:11 Morning Camp Party
  • 12:45 Lunch
  • 1:30 Word (cabin Bible Study)
  • 2:15 Free Time
  • 5:15 Bible Memory & Showers
  • 6:00 Dinner
  • 6:45 Chapel
  • 8:15 Talk Back (discussion about chapel)
  • 9:00 Canteen
  • 9:45 Night Game
  • 11:00 Back to Cabins
  • 11:30 Lights Out

Salary & Benefits

Summer staff will be paid a salary of $200 a week or more (depending on position) in addition to all room and board being provided. As summer staff at NLR, you are considered a missionary and therefore, are encouraged to raise prayer/financial support during the summer. We will equip you with information to help you put your support raising package together if you choose to raise support.

Summer Volunteer

It takes a whole lot of people to make summer happen, and we are always grateful for the help of willing volunteers. Have you been on summer staff in the past 3 years? We'd love you to volunteer for check-in on Sundays or serve around camp during the week! Are you a medical professional? We'd love for you to serve on our medical team for a week in the summer! Are you a speaker or worship leader? Use your gifts at summer camp and leadership development programs!
