Soma

Level 3 of Leadership Development

Discover and Develop Your Gifting

Soma Team: a four-week experience for students who have successfully completed the Nehemiah and Timothy teams. As the capstone experience of the Leadership Development program, Soma marks a pivotal moment where leadership principles, discipleship relationships, and experiential learning peak. Soma, the Greek word for Body, represents the value of Participating in the Body of Christ.

God gives spiritual gifts to each one of us according to his Grace. Campers within the Soma program will spend time with their peers and leaders, learning to discover their unique areas of giftings, develop them together, and serve at camp within a capacity that stretches and grows them. Campers will spend a significant portion of the four week experience studying God’s word, learning about leadership principles, investing in discipleship relationships, and celebrating the completion of the LD experience.

In order to apply for Soma, campers must have completed Timothy Team.

Campers will apply for the 4-week session they desire to join. Soma campers will be interviewed and assigned to one of the two sites. When a session of Soma is full, campers will be placed on a waitlist for that session and immediately notified.  Campers will have the option to register for the other session, if it is available.

Soma Applications are due Dec 31st.

Week 1

Discovery & Development

In the opening chapters of the Gospel of Mark, Jesus is found walking alongside the sea of Galilee. He runs into Andrew and Simon fishing: a very ordinary moment and simple task for them. Jesus’ calls to them and invites them to become fishers of men. An everyday life task, with heavenly implication.  Week 1 of Soma is meant to reflect this kind of discipleship and training, modeling how Jesus walked with his disciples.

The focus in week 1 is on Discovery & Development, where campers are assigned and trained in a role at camp, based on giftings and areas of need within camp.

Week 2-3

Participation and Celebration

Our goal is to walk with our campers to discover how Jesus has invited them to participate in the kingdom like Andrew and Simon. Your camper will spend time discovering more of their giftings and develop those with their leaders and learn to leverage them for the kingdom throughout week 2-3 for their experience.

The focus in weeks 2-3 is on Experiential Learning, where campers are serving in roles, attending leadership labs, and studying the Bible together.

In order to apply for Soma, campers must have completed Timothy Team.

Campers will apply for the 4-week session they desire to join. Soma campers will be interviewed and assigned to one of the two sites.
